Anania`s Variety in Portland

The sandwiches are great, and the counter staff are friendly. However, during my visit, there were customers and a food handling employee not wearing masks, so covid-19 precautions do not appear to be enforced adequately.

A neighborhood favorite for many years! Now carries GLUTEN FREE sandwiches and desserts. Food is great. They have a nice selection of beer and wine.

My pizza was severely undercooked!5/27. 7.15 pm, however the hamburger and fries I got the day before was delicious. Nobody panic! I'll be back. Thanks Ronda- new customer!

They're getting five stars cuz they went above and beyond they were short-staffed they only had two people and the line was wrapped around out the door they managed to get everybody in and out as fast as possible I stayed there and enjoyed my sandwich and I seen these wonderful little knick-knacks they had on the wall but somebody had made out of sea glass and it was beautiful as nice little piece of art that was there and the staff immediately friendly and apologizing for the inconvenience of the line being big but they are moving as fast as they can to get everybody in and wonderful ananias never had an issue when I'm gone here in the past and I'm hoping that continuous

Great food and always friendly service. I've tried the meatball sub, ham and cheese and French fries. All excellent.

Employees at the Congress St location always seem to be in a rush to get customers out of the store. Not typically very friendly, usually seem annoyed when placing an order at the counter. Although veggies for Italians are fresh they are very skimpy - even on a double (only 3 olives cut in half on a large). Employees seems in so much of a rush that order is typically wrong (order large double Italian, no green pepper, salt, pepper, & mayo) but never provided how requested - either oil instead of mayo (most common) or green pepper. Location is the only reason I have been back multiple times due to convenience.

Great italians! Pickles are not too "sour". I appreciate that they offer oil on the side, and you can have your choice of black or greek olives.

Great sandwiches from every variety of italian you can imagine to Pastrami , steak n cheese meatball ,chicken etc. Fries and pasta dinners so there's something for everyone! They also have dinners to go and soda ,juice, coffee,and lots of other beverages. Very friendly staff that makes you feel welcome and comfortable. I Highly reccomend this spot !!

Their breakfast is as good as their sandwiches.

Always a great experience with ananias, good food, good people, and probably one of the last places in Portland with decent prices.

Great take out Italian. Great Italian sandwich. Traditional whoopie pies. Across from Clarion Hotel. Good place to get food while staying at that hotel.

Great place! Portland institution owned by the same family working hard since 1963. Great breakfast and lunch plus dinner and catering, great beer and wine selection and homemade desserts/treats.

If you are passing through Portland make sure to drop by here! There's a large variety of gluten free options for delicious treats. The shop is very clean, spacious, and the owner of the shop went out of her way to make me a box of pastries to take with me.

One of the best sandwich shops in Cumberland County. I have enjoyed every sandwich I have tried over several years of coming here.Small place makes me feel rushed to pick out what I want and get out of other people's way; limited parking, great location.Good prices, friendly employees.

Who knew there were more Ananias than in St. Louis. The family was gracious and welcoming. The whoopee pies were delicious. Wish we could have stayed longer.

Wonderful gluten free baked goods and rolls. Got them fresh out of the oven :-)They manage to appear cheerful even at 6am, and I really appreciate their good humor as I head off to start my work day.Highly recommend.

Best Breakfast Pizza in the world! Seriously, hands down winner. Super great and friendly staff. No "Mom 'n Pop" better than this location.

Supervisor was rudely chastising employee, totally disorganized crew, and then the person making my sandwich was wearing a mask but had lowered it so his nose wasn't covered. I had to ask for my sandwich bto be remade with someone properly wearing a mask. You should not be open if you can't follow the proper COVID-19 guidelines.

Great sandwich shop!

Worst subs iv ever seen. Bad ingredients and cuts on their veggie, layered horribly and to boot they use some lame white bread hot dog bun instead of a sub roll. It looked like the put the bread down and launched the rest of the components from a t shirt cannon into it. Literally threw most of my order straight into the trash.

Excellent Sandwiches. Very close to Portland Transportation Station. Very neat, clean & friendly. Good place to get a bite.

This is a favorite stop when we travel to Portland, as it is an easy walk from the Amtrak station (exit station, cross to taxi holding circle, walk down Sewall St. to Congress St.). Fresh Italians are the best! Courteous, fast service. There is a small counter inside which seats maybe 5, usually available as most of their business is takeout. If the counter is full, there are a couple of picnic tables outside towards the back. Perfect spot to grab sandwiches and snacks for the train ride home.

I just had to call this place 9 times for an answer. I got a half cheese half pepperoni. I got home and opened the box and the pizza was not cooked fully and they charged me about 17 for this. Picture below. 0 stars if possible.

Great for a quick in-and-out or a casual lunch. Staff is always delightfully friendly, and their homemade desserts are outstanding.

I love this location! Great wine and beer selection for such a small store. They make pretty good sandwiches, fries, and whoopie pies, have fresh hot coffee in the morning, and have a friendly and knowledgeable staff that always seem happy to be there.

Off 295 highway on Congress st. Great place looks small from outside but impressive inside.Sandwiches,calzones & pizza.No wait in & out. ENJOY !!

Nice, clean variety store. The owner (?) Was a very nice gentleman who was very accommodating. The calzone was delicious along with the chocolate chip cookie bar. Their whoopie pies are out of this world and not sicky sweet.. perfect!!

The best Italian subs around. Wonderful staff. Fast and friendly. My go to for take out , awesome homemade meatballs too !!

Sorry to say I was very disappointed I ordered a breakfast sandwich with Italian sausage & there was hardly any sausage to be found. Also bread was soggy. The lady offered to make a fresh sandwich, but I was in a rush for dr appt. So I picked out of already made sandwich. Also there was no price on any of the bottles of water. I paid $6.48 for something that was awful
